Lynn J. Archibald lived a life dedicated to basketball and making a positive impact on the lives of young athletes. Born in Logan, Utah, he moved with his family to California and graduated from Torrance High School. He played college basketball at Utah State and El Camino College and later obtained his bachelor’s degree from Fresno State. Lynn’s coaching career took him across the country, including assistant coaching positions at Long Beach State, UNLV, Cal Poly-SLO, and USC, and head coaching positions at Idaho State and the University of Utah. He went on to serve as an assistant coach at Arizona State and later at Brigham Young University

Throughout his life, Lynn touched the lives of countless young athletes and left a lasting impact on them. He was known for his gift of connecting with and changing the lives of the people he worked with. Coach Archibald was one of the pioneers of international recruiting players from the former Yugoslavia, Venezuela, Nigeria and other parts of Africa and Europe. Despite a long and courageous battle with cancer, Lynn passed away surrounded by his loving family in 1997.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Anne, two sons, a daughter, His funeral was held in Provo, Utah, and was a testament to the love and respect he had earned throughout his life. Lynn J. Archibald will always be remembered as a dedicated coach, a loving husband and father, and a positive influence on the lives of those he encountered especially young people
